Awarded to the best translation of a children´s book, by a British translator, from a foreign language into English, and published in the UK by a British publisher. Submissions are accepted from publishers for books produced for readers from 4-16 years of age. The award is made to the translator. It is awarded every second year.

2001: Betsey Rosenberg for Duel, by David Grossman. Translated from Hebrew (Bloomsbury, 2004)

Awarded for the best translation of a full-length French work of literary merit and general interest.

2004: Ian Monk for his translation of Monsieur Malaussene by Daniel Pennac (Harvill)
2003: Linda Asher for her translation of Ignorance by Milan Kundera (Faber and Faber)
2002: Ina Rilke Balzac for her translation of The Little Chinese Seamstress by Dai Sijie (Chatto & Windus)

1991: Brian Pearce for his translation of Bread and Circuses by Paul Veyne (Penguin)
1990: Beryl and John Fletcher for the translation of The Georgics by Claude Simon (Calder)

Aims to honour a great work of fiction by a living author that has been translated into English from any other language and published in the United Kingdom. Entries (fiction or short stories) must be published in English translation in the UK and the author must be alive at the time that the translation is published.
